About Jeff Wignall
I am a freelance writer and photographer and I am the author of more than 35 how-to photography books that have sold millions of copies, including The Joy of Digital Photography (Lark Photo Books), Exposure Photo Workshop (Wiley Publishing) and Digital Photography FAQs (Wiley Publishing). For more about my books, see the My Books page. I also co-authored Michael Freeman's: Photo School Exposure (Ilex Press) with noted photographer and author Michael Freeman. My most recent book is The Photographer's Master Guide to Colour (Ilex Press), which became an immediate bestseller.
For more than a decade I have been a contributing freelance editor and photographer for Pro Photo Daily a newsletter that reaches more than 20,000 readers each day. I also wrote the "Master Series" interviews for Pro Photo Daily and for Motion Arts Pro Daily and I've interviewed a number of the world's most innovative photographers and filmmakers for that series, including: legendary sports photographer Neil Leifer, National Geo's Jay Dickman, wildlife shooter Daniel J. Cox, Anne Day, Eli Reed, Jamie Macdonald, Laura Hicks, Giulio Sciorio, Dave Surber, Vincent LaForet and Michael Grecco. For a full list of my "Master Series" interviews look here.
I was also a longtime contributing editor with Popular Photography magazine and where I wrote the monthly “Traveling Photographer” column. Sadly, after 80 years of publication, Pop Photo folded. While writing my travel column, I wrote about dozens of destinations, including: New Orleans, San Antonio, Bermuda, Chicago, the Texas Gulf Coast, Acadia National Park, Tucson, Miami, Charleston, Napa Valley, Austin, Aspen, the Black Hills of South Dakota, the Kentucky Bluegrass region, California's ghost towns, Hawai'i and many more.
During my career I’ve been fortunate enough to have interviewed and profiled hundreds of photographers, among them some of the world’s greatest shooters, including: Galen Rowell, Eric Meola, Joel Meyerowitz, Art Wolfe, Arnold Newman, Frans Lanting, Ron Niebrugge, Duane Michaels, Mark Seliger, Mary Ellen Mark, Catherine Karnow, Boyd Norton, Brian Oglesbee, Derek Doeffinger, Robin Hill, Kerrick James, Benjamin Von Wong, Troy Paiva, Joyce Tenneson, Vincent Laforet, Dave Surber and many others.
I am also a former “Camera” columnist for the Sunday New York Times and I am the former Technical and New Products editor at Photo District News. I was also a contract writer with Eastman Kodak for more than 20 years.
